The Atami Marine Fireworks Festival has a long history, having been held since 27.
The city of Atami suffered damage from high waves caused by Typhoon Kitty on August 24, 8, and was hit by a major fire in 31.
This fireworks display is held to thank the local people who were affected by the disaster for their tremendous efforts in rebuilding their town.

The overwhelming scale of the event, which uses the entire venue, is a huge hit every year, with the twinkling fireworks of the consecutive launches lighting up the Atami night sky.
