In the new year, the early-blooming Atami cherry blossoms and plum blossoms will be at their best.
Along with Okinawa's Kanhizakura, Atami Sakura is the earliest-blooming cherry tree in the Japanese archipelago, and its deep pink flowers bloom for about a month from early January each year. The first plum blossoms at Atami Plum Garden usually begin to bloom between late November and early December, and the best viewing time is from January to mid-February. Events are also held to coincide with the best viewing times.
