April 2024 & 4, 27, May 28-5 “Jazz at Terrace”

Hotel GrandBach Atami Crescendo will be hosting "Jazz at Terrace" for five days only during Golden Week, where you can enjoy "food and music." Enjoy a pre-dinner aperitif with the sounds of chic jazz while feeling the gentle spring breeze of Atami on the terrace overlooking Suruga Bay.

During these five days, Executive Chef Tomokazu Kitano will play Atami Cuisine (French dinner) and there will be a jazz duo performance (twice each day) during dinner time. Enjoy a memorable evening with your family or partner as the sun grows longer each day and the evening view of Atami unfolds below.

Kazue Ueho (Pianist)

Born in Sendai City.

She started playing the piano at the age of three, and after graduating from the Kunitachi College of Music, she performed with her own trio and has performed with many other musicians.

In 1993, he released his first album, "KAZUE KAMIHO TRIO". His second CD, "A TOY BOX", featured a unique arrangement of the song "Happy Birthday to You", and was supported by music fans of all ages for its fun and surprising content. He also composed the departure melody for JR Asagaya Station, "Jazz Style Tanabata-sama", which he played on the piano, and it is still played on the platform at Asagaya Station.



Ushio Ito (bassist)

Born in Setagaya Ward in 1955. Graduated from the Faculty of Economics at Seikei University.

He began performing while still in college. Since then, he has performed with hundreds of artists from Japan and abroad, mainly at live houses and concerts, and has been a regular with many prestigious groups, including Yashiro Kazuo, Kitamura Eiji, Sera Yuzuru, and Fujiya Koji.

He also performed at the Monterey Jazz Festival in the United States in 1989. He also produces albums, composes and arranges music, and is involved in research into music therapy, as well as providing care at psychiatric clinics.

Since 2008, he has also served as CEO of the music planning company Rakushido Co., Ltd.



Takayuki Yagi (Pianist)

Born in Kyoto. Graduated from Doshisha University.

He studied under Barry Harris and Norman Simmons in New York. After returning to Japan, he participated in the Hisao Osumi Trio, Takaaki Miyanoue Super Quartet, Takeshi Inomata Jazztet, etc. He frequently appears on NHK Session 505.

He won the Grand Prize in the solo category at the 24th Asakusa Jazz Contest. In 2015, he released a CD as the first artist on Jazz TOKYO RECORDS.



Hirokazu Yamaguchi (Guitarist & Composer)

He started playing guitar at the age of 15 and began performing in various places.

In 2020, he released his first album, "Hirokazu Yamaguchi's Vortex Box," which combines jazz, classical, contemporary and ethnic music. His work has been featured in various media outlets, including Radio Hermes, NHK-FM, JAL international in-flight audio, and Yahoo! News. In 1, he will be invited by the music school Internal Compass in Israel to perform a concert and master class there.

Currently, he is active in performing live and recording both in Japan and overseas, playing jazz, classical and electric guitar, as well as composing and arranging.



Shigeru Ukon (saxophone)

Born in Kobe in 1963.

He built his career by performing with Yuzuru Sera (Pf), Eiji Kitamura (Cl), Koji Fujiya (Cl), Takeshi Inomata (Ds), and others. In 1998, he performed a tenor battle with Harry Allen and received favorable reviews. In 2001, he released his first album, Ukon At Ease. In 2008, his second album, Stranger in Paradise, was nominated for the Japan Jazz Award.

He is an accomplished clarinetist and tenor saxophone player known for his swinging, beautiful playing style.



Mitsukuni Tanabe (guitarist)

He started playing guitar at the age of 10 and studied jazz guitar under Takaaki Miyanoue. He began his professional career in 1985 and moved to the United States in 1988. He performed in sessions with many musicians, mainly in New York.

He has participated in recordings with Yasuko Agawa, Aki Yashiro, Scott Hamilton, John Bunch, and others. He is also active in publishing instructional books and writing test performance reports for music magazines. In 2004, he released his first album as a leader, Bernie's Tune.

He is well known as a player who can handle a wide range of styles, from solo guitar to big band ensembles.



Yuichi Narita (Pianist)

He started playing classical piano at the age of 2002, picked up the guitar and devoted himself to rock music during high school, and studied jazz at Senzoku Gakuen College of Music in XNUMX, starting his professional career after graduating.

In 2010, he moved to the United States, where he participated in live performances and sessions. After returning to Japan the following year, he has been performing mainly in Yokohama and Tokyo, and is currently one of the most active young pianists.

In the film "Kids on the Slope" directed by Miki Takahiro, he plays the piano for the main character (Nishimi Kaoru).



Akiko Suda (vocals)

Graduated from Senzoku Gakuen College of Music with honors in 2007.

She moved to New York in the spring of 2009. In 2012, she passed the scholarship audition and enrolled in the Los Angeles Music Academy as a scholarship student. In 2016, her first album as a leader was nominated for 7th place in the vocal category of the Audio Disc Awards by the magazine Jazz Criticism, the only Japanese to do so.

Currently, he is a lecturer at bf jazz school and Shobi Music College while also performing. In February 2024, he will perform at the Cotton Club in Marunouchi, Tokyo. He is also a tourism ambassador for Konosu City, Saitama Prefecture.
