At Hotel GrandBach, on March 21st, "Bach in the Subways" is an international musical movement held to celebrate Bach's birthday.(Bach in the Subways)In sympathy with the philosophy of "Performance," we will be offering the hotel's public spaces free of charge to anyone wishing to perform for two days, on Saturday, March 21st and Sunday, March 22nd, 2026.
"Bach in the Subways" is a grassroots movement that began in 2010 when cellist Dale Henderson performed Bach's Cello Suites on the New York subway. In order to celebrate Bach's birthday and connect classical music to the future, he refused tips and instead handed out free postcards. This pure musical experience resonated with people, and has now grown into a movement involving thousands of performers in dozens of countries around the world.
■ About Hotel GrandBach Tokyo Ginza entry
We are looking for people who can perform at our hotel and meet the following conditions:
Date: March 21, 2026Saturday, March 22nd and Sunday, March 29th. Please check the application form for times.
Venue: Public spaces within the hotel (lobby, restaurant, etc.)
Performance time: 20-45 minutes
Instruments: Optional (please bring your own)
Contents of performance: Music by J.S. Bach (please see the guidelines for details).
Entry deadline: March 19, 2026, noon
