We are pleased to announce the 13th "Salon Concert." We will be welcoming Kaori Koike, who plays the viola da gamba, a bowed string instrument used in Europe from the 16th century to the mid-18th century. Why not enjoy the unique sounds of this early instrument?

[Viola da Gamba] Kaori KOIKE

Graduated from the Tokai University Graduate School of Arts and Letters Master's Program. In 2005, she passed the audition for the Bach Academy Festival in Stuttgart, Germany, led by Helmut Rilling, and traveled to Germany, where she performed in Brandenburg Concerto No. 6. In 2006, she studied abroad at the Bremen University of the Arts, Department of Early Music. She studied viola da gamba with Hille Peal, orchestra and chamber music with Thomas Albert, music theory and counterpoint with Manfredo Cordes, music history with Greta Hahnen, and basso continuo with Angelica Mossis. During her time at the university, she performed throughout Europe, and was invited to perform in many concerts as a soloist and basso continuo player in passions, cantatas, oratorios, honing her skills.

In 2007 and 2008, he went to the UK as a trainee at the Royal College of Music in London. In 2009, he obtained a soloist diploma and a national performer qualification and graduated from the University of the Arts Bremen. In 2010, he moved to Japan and began performing, traveling between Japan and Europe and being invited to numerous international music festivals in Germany and Italy. In 2017, he released the solo CD "Bach x Viola da Gamba", and in 2021, "Telemann x Viola da Gamba", which were selected as Yomiuri Shimbun Sounds Box Recommended Albums, Ongaku Gendai Recommended Albums, and Asahi Shimbun for your Collection, and received positive reviews. In recent years, he has also been focusing on training the next generation, and is providing well-established lessons.

[Harpsichord] Hayao SONEDA

Graduated from the Tokyo University of the Arts, Faculty of Music, Department of Instrumental Music, majoring in harpsichord. In 2015, he moved to France and studied at the Lyon Conservatoire, where he obtained a diploma as a performer in harpsichord and classical harp. After completing his master's degree in harpsichord at the same school in 2020, he returned to Japan and based in Japan, where he formed the duo "I Filatori di Musica" with Emi Nakajima, and continues to spread the appeal of early musical instruments through concerts and online courses.

Not only as a soloist of two instruments, but also as a basso continuo player, he participates in early music ensembles such as Soleil Levant and Antonello. In 2, he won the silver medal at the Paris Music Competition as "I Filatori di Musica". In 2019, he received a scholarship from ADAMI, the French music and art copyright management association.
