"Hotel GrandBach" is a hotel based on the concept of the music of Johann Sebastian Bach (J.S. Bach, 1685-1750), "the Father of Music,". Music of Bach, who was born in Germany 340 years ago, continues to fascinate the world today. This artwork traces the life of Bach, inspired by the photos of the cities where he lived.

Middle-age to J.S. Bach's Final Period of his Life: Leipzig, Dresden

The last city where Bach lived was Leipzig, one of Germany's largest cities. He spent 27 years here, during which he directed the choir at St. Thomas Church, where he performed masterpieces of church music such as the ”St. Matthew Passion” (Matthäus-Passion, BWVXNUMX), conducted the group that became the forerunner of the Gewandhaus Orchestra at coffee house concerts, and directed the music for the city's festivals. He was also frequently invited to the glamorous court city of Dresden, where he gave virtuoso performances.

In his later years, he devoted himself to creating exquisite masterpieces such as "Musical Offering (Das Musikalische Opfer, BWVXNUMX) and "Goldberg Variations (Goldberg-Variationen, BWVXNUMX)."

J.S. Bach's Prime of Life: Mühlhausen, Weimar, Köthen

Bach rose steadily through the ranks, working as a church organist and court musician. He married, started a family, and was blessed with many children and students. The ancient city of Weimar, where Goethe and Schiller were also active, and Köthen, where he served as court conductor, became the center of Bach's activities during this period.

His first wife, Maria Barbara, died in Köthen, but he stayed with his second wife, Anna Magdalena, until the end. While he composed masterpieces such as "Brandenburg Concertos" (Brandenburgische Konzerte, BWVXNUMX-XNUMX), his fame as an organist was also known worldwide, and he was invited to appraise many famous organs. When he played the organ at the Frauenkirche in Halle, he was treated to a feast that included his specialty, asparagus.

From J.S. Bach's Birth to Adolescence: Eisenach, Ohrdruf, Arnstadt

In this section, we invite you to Eisenach, where he was born, Ohrdruf, and Arnstadt, where he spent his younger days. Bach was born in 1685 to a musical family in Eisenach, also known for the Wartburg Castle where Martin Luther translated the New Testament into German. In Ohrdruf, where he trained as a musician, Bach's name remains on the school register of the church school.

He began his musical career as a church organist in Arnstadt, where he astounded people with his virtuoso playing the organ.
