"Hotel GrandBach" is a hotel based on the concept of the music of Johann Sebastian Bach (J.S. Bach, 1685-1750), "the Father of Music,". Music of Bach, who was born in Germany 340 years ago, continues to fascinate the world today. This artwork traces the life of Bach, inspired by the photos of the cities where he lived.
From J.S. Bach's Birth to Adolescence: Eisenach, Ohrdruf, Arnstadt
In this section, we invite you to Eisenach, where he was born, Ohrdruf, and Arnstadt, where he spent his younger days. Bach was born in 1685 to a musical family in Eisenach, also known for the Wartburg Castle where Martin Luther translated the New Testament into German. In Ohrdruf, where he trained as a musician, Bach's name remains on the school register of the church school.
He began his musical career as a church organist in Arnstadt, where he astounded people with his virtuoso playing the organ.
