Sendai Uminomori Aquarium

Rairaikyo Gorge

Akiu Falls

Hitome Senbonzakura, Shiraishi River

Sendai Morning Market
Opening times: Closed on Sundays and public holidays
A five-minute walk from JR Sendai Station and the subway, the area is packed with around 5 stores. Fresh, inexpensive seasonal fish, vegetables, and fruits are available here, making it a popular spot for many visitors who call it "Sendai's kitchen."
Sendai Aoba Festival
Event period: The third Saturday and Sunday of May every year
This is a representative festival that heralds the arrival of spring in Sendai. The evening festival features the general Sendai Suzume Dance, and the main festival sees a procession of 11 floats and warriors parading through the green streets of Sendai. You can also enjoy the "Mori no Ichi" market, where delicious foods related to the Sendai domain are gathered from all over the country.
Sendai Tanabata Festival
Event period: August 8th, 6th, and 7th every year
The nationally famous Sendai Tanabata Festival. A summer tradition of Japanese paper decorated on green bamboo and the wind. Over 3,000 bamboo decorations form an arch in the city of Sendai. At the Sendai Tanabata Fireworks Festival, held the eve of the festival, about 16,000 fireworks are launched in a spectacular display.
Jozenji Street Jazz Festival
Event period: The third Saturday and Sunday of May every year
When the rows of zelkova trees fill with music, it is the beginning of autumn. On this day, the streets of Sendai, including Jozenji-dori, turn into a stage, where you can enjoy music of various genres, including jazz and rock.
Sendai Classic Festival
Event period: Three days from late September to late October every year
Affectionately known as "Senkura," this classical music festival has become a seasonal feature of autumn in Sendai. You can enjoy it at any time from morning to night, according to your lifestyle, whether that be going to multiple performances to catch your favorite music, checking out a performance while out shopping, or immersing yourself in music with your children.
SENDAI Pageant of Starlight
Event period: Every year from early December to December 12st
This event colors the winter in Sendai. As many as 60 LED light bulbs are installed along the rows of zelkova trees on Jozenji-dori and Aoba-dori in central Sendai, creating a warm glow that creates an atmosphere not seen anywhere else.
