Red and White Plum Blossoms
Inspired by the 'Yae-toubai,' a red plum blossom encountered at Atami Baien that radiates vivid yet soft colors.
Captivated by its beauty, the artist created this work to brilliantly depict it alongside the white plums standing behind. While Atami often evokes coastal views, this piece focuses on the vitality of the plum blossoms that symbolize spring, drawing out their inherent charm.
It reflects the artist's wish for viewers to enjoy the beauty of Atami's plums throughout the year.
Motoi Yamamoto
Contours of Time
Inspired by the spiral, symbol of rebirth in Eastern tradition.
Painted with acrylic mixed with glass fiber to evoke Motoi Yamamoto's signature salt installations, the surface composed of lines mimicking the texture of salt crystals.
For the artist Motoi Yamamoto, the act of drawing lines is a journey tracing past memory, embedding personal prayer and his response to questions of life and death.
The continuous spirals signify an unending chain of thought, quietly speaking of revival, rebirth, and the concept of eternity.
The gold-leaf surface layers the radiance of time embodied in gold, a material symbolizing eternity across cultures and eras.
Layering of Time
In the 'Layers of Time' series, lines are layered repeatedly over previously drawn lines, as if tracing the path of memory.
The recurring spiral patterns represent time accumulating quietly yet steadily, with each line remaining on the canvas as a trace of the artist's own experiences and reflections.
The density and fluctuations of the lines, deepened through repeated layering, cast profound shadows, visualizing the passage of time, the complexity of memory, and the process of regeneration itself.
Furthermore, the use of gold leaf allows layers of time, embodying eternity, to emit a quiet radiance.

Waterscape (confeito)
Dusk and early morning are times when the flow of time is felt most intensely—a color-filled period where the landscape changes moment by moment with drifting clouds and sky colors, making the passing time feel poignant.
This work is created with the image of Atami's water landscape during such hours, reflecting on a timeless scene where stars, the sun, and the shimmer of water exist simultaneously.
The title 'Mizugeshiki (confeito)' was inspired by the image of star-shaped 'konpeito' candy that melts sweetly in the mouth.
Waterscape (Odette)
A work depicting a water landscape shimmering in the light.
The light reflected in the water may be moonlight, sunlight, or perhaps the lights of the city.
It embodies the artist's desire to evoke the fundamental human memory of water.
By using natural minerals to depict the elusive glimmers swaying between waves, the expression of the canvas changes when viewed from different angles.
The title 'Mizugeshiki (Odette)' was inspired by the image of night and the constantly moving, dancing ripples.

Clover
A work based on photographs of flowers and plants found in daily life, which were then decomposed and reconstructed on a computer.
Inspired by the clover motif, retaining faint traces of the original plant while offering varied impressions shaped by the viewer's visual experience, memory, and the place and moment of viewing.
A work imagining the expansion of music and the moment taste unfolds.
Angelonia
A work based on photographs of flowers and plants found in daily life, which were then decomposed and reconstructed on a computer.
Using the 'Angelonia' plant as a motif, the work retains a faint essence of the original flora while aiming to provide a unique impression to each viewer based on their visual experience, memory, and the timing of their observation.
A work inspired by the rhythm of conversation and the flow of time experienced amidst music and dining.
Canna
A series of three works based on the Canna flower.
Created with the image of flying through a waterside landscape.
Please enjoy the sense of dynamism and the differing impressions of each work alongside the view from the room.
Iris
Based on the iris, this work imagines the flowers drifting and floating in front of a seascape-like space.
Geranium
Based on the geranium, this work is imagined to evoke wind and flow.
Aki Kurihara
Accordionist
Person practicing the accordion in a room
A work that gently and beautifully depicts the time spent practicing—a moment shared by all who play instruments.
A guitarist
Woman playing the guitar
A work painted with a flat perspective, achieving balance with the room and small objects by intentionally depicting the figure large on a small canvas.
Influenced by the studies of Henri Matisse.
Cellist
Person playing the cello
A work centered on a figure playing the cello, pursuing the dynamic expression created by the movement of the body.
A room with the sound of a piano
A room dyed yellow by the sunset; a time when the sounds of the piano and colors seem to bleed and melt together
A work composed to expand the field of vision, depicting the resonance of a piano throughout a spacious room.
To show the entire room as if bathed in the sunset, the expression is achieved through multiple layers of paint.
Beach
Memories of the sea held in every heart; a sandy beach where one feels the wind and the slow passage of time
A work depicting a scene of many birds flying about, capturing the presence of the invisible wind alongside the beach landscape.
It embodies the artist's belief that when humans immerse themselves in rich nature, they too can become a part of it.
Resonant moment
A person relaxing to the sound of a violin; a moment of richness where life resonates with melody and light
A work mindful of the reds and compositions used by Henri Matisse and Milton Avery.
The placement of a red table at the center of the screen is designed to naturally guide the viewer's gaze.
A moment of rest
The lingering resonance of time passed and the premonition of what is to come; a moment of rest in between
A work expressing imperfection by intentionally using unbalanced depth and perspective, despite being set indoors.
Furthermore, a sense of flatness is created by patterning the yellow flowers, carpet, and walls.
Ocean view
A place to surrender to the sea and wind; a place with a liberated view
A work depicting a scene near the sea.
Painted to evoke the sea breeze, the scent of the tide, and the presence of people relaxing within it.
The colors are also carefully chosen to make the blue of the sea stand out beautifully.
Twilight
Twilight, a pleasant moment before dinner; a time when the breeze feels wonderful
A work expressing a quiet moment of people gathered around an outdoor dining table in the soft light of dusk.
Through blurred colors and outlines, it captures an atmosphere where everything is accepted and embraced.

When you Reach the Coastline
Rather than indicating a fixed destination, this work invites one to pause, observe, and question the fluid boundaries between human and nature, existence and becoming.
It reflects the artist's ongoing exploration of nature as both a physical landscape and a mirror of the inner world.
Light plays a central role, shaping the space while evoking the fleeting and fragmentary nature of memory; the layered painting process emphasizes the artist's belief in the value of change.
Rather than depicting a fixed scene, the work captures a dynamic state of becoming where beauty, uncertainty, and introspection coexist.
Wandering Hills
A work depicting a landscape of 'being' rather than a geographical one.
It expresses a world where nature expands like a dream, reshaped by emotions and the flow of time.
In semi-abstract forms, soft ochre hills, meandering streams, and distant peaks enveloped in pink and pale aqua serve as a site of reflection, mirroring the artist's own inner landscape.
Within the work, the hills do not merely 'wander' but drift like thoughts, maintaining a delicate balance between stillness and motion.
Through layers of color and texture, the work conveys how memories of nature remain in the body, transforming through solitude, longing, and introspection.
Glimpse of a Lake Between Hills
Nature's fleeting impression captured through memory and abstraction.
Soft pink, earthy green, and ochre layers overlap to express a dreamlike landscape where hills gently embrace a pale lake.
Textural contrast and gradations of paint generate depth and rhythm, evoking the transience of passing scenery.
Balance of intuitive composition and improvisational expression; bare canvas and overlapping color give the work a sense of breath, reflecting place, memory, and the emotional resonance of landscape.
See Vastness Between Trees
A work depicting space where memory and nature converge poetically.
Trees stand like passageways, the space between them suggesting emotional as well as physical expanse.
Diffused light softens contours, blurring the boundary between reality and imagination, layering inner sensation onto landscape.
Themes of impermanence, belonging, longing, transience, and the possibility of connection are woven throughout; light depicted as a force linking nature and the interior self.
Through abstracted form and soft tonality, spatial and emotional expanse are felt simultaneously; as the landscape beyond the trees overlaps with the viewer's interior, 'expanse' exists not only in the visible world but within the heart.
Blue Moon Between Clouds
A work that captures the emotional essence of a landscape rather than its literal appearance, vividly combining abstract expression with natural symbolism.
Bold blue trees stand at the center, surrounded by undulating hills and cloud-like shapes rendered in textured pastels and earth tones.
Above, a deep ultramarine crescent moon shines, floating in a sky of soft lavender and cream.
Avoiding rigid structure, the canvas unfolds through gestural brushstrokes and layered planes of color, evoking a 'memory of place' rather than a specific geography.
The artist's travels and transient experiences are reflected in the visual expression, suggesting that landscape is shaped not just by geography, but by inner reflection and time.
A Pink Stream in the Undergrowth
Forest rendered as layered abstraction of color and form.
Organic structures dissolve into bold pink, green, and violet, creating a dreamlike landscape.
A central pink path reminiscent of stream or forest trail meanders through mossy green, deep violet, and dense charcoal undergrowth, while vivid mint, lilac, and crimson add movement and light—the contrast of flat planes and brushwork generating interplay between control and spontaneity.
A work reflecting inner terrain shaped by emotion, inviting the viewer into a world strangely intimate yet unknown.
Ascent in the Morning Air
A work depicting a mountain landscape animated by light and elevation.
Using a palette of soft pink, ochre, and green, it creates a scene where stillness and motion coexist.
In the vertical composition, pale green peaks rise through bands of ochre and terracotta, while a streak of vivid red crosses the sky above, instilling change and energy within the silence. Textures of yellow and red create subtle movement and rhythm.
A quiet and powerful work that allows one to experience a symbolic landscape where air, light, and land delicately meet.
A Blue Stream Under the Sun
An abstract expression of a location's atmosphere and topographical features.
Blue streams meander through hills of deep green, ochre, and burgundy, melting into a warm pink background.
The vivid orange above represents a low sun, evoking changes in light and air.
Though abstract, the work conveys the presence of a place through sensation rather than sight, unifying memory, topography, and feeling on a single canvas.
Silent Path Into the Woods
Quiet yet powerful forest scene expressed through color and form.
Color and form symbolize memory, emotion, and nature's tension.
Dense green shapes pressing from left and right, edged in contrasting hues, guide the eye toward pale mint and lavender light; reddish orange and muted mauve accents evoke undergrowth and fallen leaves.
Neither fully abstract nor figurative, this work speaks through suggestion, conveying not a 'picture' of forest but the sensation of walking into it.
Where to Observe How Things Form
Semi-abstract work depicting observation itself as an act of generation.
The viewer is invited not merely to gaze at form but to touch the process of formation.
Earthy red, muted purple, and pale ochre layer to evoke sedimentation and erosion through time; soft contours and ambiguous space reflect coexistence of clarity and obscurity, while brushwork and texture convey the artist's introspective journey.
Quiet, meditative work rooted in deep engagement with nature, where form, color, and brushstroke echo nature's fluid rhythm.
